Welcome to the trophy guide for Tales of Xillia 2! There's a lot more to do than in the previous Xillia, especially since a lot of the requirements have been tripled from Xillia's requirements, so let's not spend too much time here, and let's get started right away, because time's-a-wasting!
Lord of Xillia 2 The mark of complete Xillia 2 mastery. Thanks for playing!
You went through a LOT of effort to get this platinum. After you get it, I suggest you relax and take a break from your games, especially if you're trying to get every trophy within one long amount of time playing this game and nothing else. Either way, congrats!
Enemy Sage Proof that you've registered enough monsters in your list. With this much, you could call it an encyclopedia! Wow!
The target number is 275. So long as you're actively partaking in the character stories between chapters, this shouldn't be too hard, as there's a nice handful of exclusive bosses only found within them, so it's definitely best to do as much as you can, you're going to need to anyway, in the long run. For an additional 8 entries, make sure you do the Bad Ending as each party member counts as their own entry. The enemies within the Xian Du Coliseum and the enemies in the Illusionary Darkness are also good spots to go. Basically, fight every enemy you see until you know you've fought everything. Also, the Elite Monsters count as well!
Item Fanatic Proof that you've registered enough items in your list. Is there anything left to find!?
The target number is 700. You're going to be grabbing items left and right, so open every chest you see, and forage as much as possible for the material items. If you're still running low, be sure to undertake the character stories as you'll receive items you won't find elsewhere. Otherwise, if it comes to it, start buying every item or weapon in the shops if you have a surplus of Gald (but only do this when your debt is paid, for the sake of it all).
Monster Annihilator Proof that you've encountered a set number of enemies! You must be superhuman at this rate! Monsters must fear you!
The target number is 800. This means individual encounters, so touching an enemy in the field and doing the battle that follows is 1 encounter. This is nearly impossible to miss, as you'll be entering countless battles for all kinds of reasons, whether it's for quests, grinding, battle challenges, etc.
Combo Virtuoso You've executed a max combo of impressive proportions! Enemies lives must flash before their eyes when you face them!
The target number is 200. So, yes, this is double the amount from Xillia, but much like Xillia, there's a nifty little way that you can do this. The way I did it was that I made my team stay on the defensive and do nothing, and equipped Ludger's Minimum Damage and Pierce skills, and went to Alest Highroad and found the Alest Plant enemy. Using Jude to eliminate any additional enemies, I made sure that I was able to hit the plant with Ludger's pistols from a decent distance, and because of pierce, it generally constantly hits the weak point, making you gain AC while you constantly spam X to fire. Eventually you'll reach 200, but you can go as high as you want, if your thumb can handle more than that. After that, it's yours!
Lord of Links Proof that you've executed a set number of linked artes. You have paved the way for future would-be linked arte users.
The target number is 4,050. Yes, 4,050! For the most part, this will be a grind, but you'll be working towards this at the same time that you work on Master of Chains. Just make sure you do lined artes at every possible opportunity, which you will since you should generally be linked with someone at all times. You'll also get a lot of linked artes going while working for Battle God.
Master of Chains Proof of an awe-inspiring amount of linked art chains! You could teach a college level course on it if you had to!
The target number is 1,350. You'll be grabbing this while working on Lord of Links. An arte chain happens when you, well, chain linked artes. You can see which artes link with your party members when linked. When you enter Overlimit, do as many as you can, as 1,350 is a huge number, and 4,050 is even bigger for the other trophy. But it'll definitely start going up as you take on the battle challenges, because those are just.. they can be frustrating, let's just say that.
Chromatus Control Proof of one who has sealed away their chromatus abilities. Now that's willpower!
After chapter 13, you must reach any of the 3 endings, using your Chromatus less than 50 times in total. The amount you used BEFORE you finish chapter 13 doesn't matter. Your best bet for this is to go for the Bad Ending. See Blood Brothers below for more info on it.
Elite Annihilator You've clearly defeated an elite amount of elite monsters. You must be VIP at this point! Bet you can get into any club.
The target number is 50. As you progress through each chapter, you can battle new Elite Monsters by looking at any request board and going to the area specified. You can't miss them either, they're huge. Be careful when fighting them, they're tough. The EX Monsters that appear late in the game after you defeat the normal variants DO count, but they're harder to take down. If you don't get this in your first playthrough, all title progress is carried over and the monsters can be rebottled as normal, and they'll still count (So if you start a New Game Plus with 25 Elite Monsters killed, then kill 1, you'll be at 26).
The Cat's Pajamas You've completed your item list for each area in Kitty Dispatch! You're the cat's pajamas now!
In each area in the game, you can send Rollo out to collect items, and sometimes bring more cats with him. The dispatch time is 15 minutes, real time, so it works even when you're in menus, battle, or not even playing. You can use items to reduce the time he's gone, or take advantage of the bonuses depending on what day it is in real life. The key for this is to focus on getting the cats. There's 100 in total, with 3 reserved for optional quests. As you collect more and more cats, the likelihood of Rollo returning with rarer items increases. When I had a high enough number, Rollo was almost guaranteed to bring back the rarest items in each spot, so keep on trying. You'll know an area is finished when it has "Complete!" in gold text filled out in the box. This applies to ALL dungeons, field locations, and towns, so you won't get this until VERY late game when you can enter the Land of Canaan.
My Soul Brother Jude Now you and Jude are so tight, you don't even need words! Your level of friendship exceeds all language at this point.
See Forever Besties.
Milla Resonance You and Milla, clearly, have a special bond that cannot be broken. Just saying her name out loud makes it feel like she's with you.
See Forever Besties.
Alvin, My Blood Brother You and Alvin officially have a real bromance going on. Now you could have a clandestine man-to-man chat together anytime.
See Forever Besties.
Forever Elize Your kinship with Elize is now supremely awesome. She may now come to you with deep questions about life itself.
See Forever Besties.
Rowen Army You and Rowen are truly distinguished chums at this point. There's nothing a refined beard won't overcome!
See Forever Besties.
Leia the Ultimate Your level of intimacy with Leia is now impeccable. It's so strong that you think you might actually BE Leia!
See Forever Besties.
Eternal Conquest with Gaius You and Gaius have formed a kingly friendship. You may find yourself sitting on the throne in his place sometimes!
See Forever Besties.
Lovin' with Muzet You and Muzet are such good friends now! If she ever asks you for a favor, you can't refuse! Wait, is that good?
See Forever Besties.
Forever Besties Your affinity with all party members has greatly deepened. Now you run around hugging them all the time! Chill out!
I love this flavor text. Anyways, you'll notice that on the main menu, after hitting Triangle, you can move to the right, as if to change your party order or leader, and select Ludger. Then, hit Square to see affinity. To get this trophy, and the 8 subsequent trophies needed for this, you must get everyone to the maximum affinity of 10 hearts, which, as you can guess, gets harder and harder as they get higher leveled. You can raise this by linking with the characters, by choosing dialogue choices that lean towards them, completing their side story chapters, and using Friendship Potions. As far as dialogue choices, I'll link a guide I used to get the highest affinity I could for characters. When doing a New Game Plus playthrough, be sure to carry over affinity!! Also, you must complete the Bonus Episode in the end of the game, which occurs after completing the other chapters, but specifically all of Jude's and Milla's, so don't miss them! Plus, the Bonus Episode grants Jude and Milla each a new arte so it's worth going for, plus more affinity!
LightOfJudgment's Affinity Guide
Perfect Body Your level of tenacity is greater than any words can describe. You're brilliant, and everyone knows it!
This is the "debt" ending. After you FINALLY pay off all 20 million Gald of your debt, Nova stops you at 100, asking you to give her the final 100 Gald in person. Find her outside the Spirius Corporation Building and talk to her for a silly scene after you finish the debt. If you're going to grind out money, definitely use the EX Dungeon, the Double Gald bonus in the Grade Shop, any Sephira you manage to have, the Lottery skills, etc. Another great way to finish up is to fight the Elite Monsters. After beating them, you can face off against EX versions of them, which are tougher, but the Gald rewards get stupid high, allowing you to chip away at your debt very efficiently.
Codependency Hey, living through others is still living, right? Be proud of yourself! But not TOO proud.
This is the "Cameo Ending," achieved after completing the Tales cameo battle in Xian Du. First, you have to complete both "Femme Fatale" requests, helping Mint and Rutee with their requests. Next, you must complete the Illusionary Darkness EX Dungeon, located in Drellin, and face off against Shadow Cress and Shadow Stahn. After beating them and completing those requests, complete the Elite Party Rank in Xian Du's arena. Finally, defeat the 4 in a battle, and in the next scene, pick the L1 at the dialogue choice to watch a silly scene with the 4 characters and reach this ending.
Dimension Destroyer You've destroyed your first fractured dimension. But hey, you had to, right?
Story-related, can't be missed.
Chromatist A title given only to the strongest of all chromatus bearers. If someone manages to defeat that bearer, the title is passed on.
Story related, can't be missed.
Blood Brothers This is the final destination for two brothers. With so little time left, may they find peace.
This is the Bad Ending of the game, or more commonly called the "Julius Ending." In chapter 15, when Ludger and everyone confront Julius in Marksburg prior to entering Canaan, you have to constantly hit the R1 choice during the sequence. This will prompt Ludger to go back on his words and face the party to protect the life of his brother. Be very careful, as this fight can be difficult, as it's 8 against 1 (You face 4 characters at first, then as you defeat them, the others join one by one). After defeating your friends, you'll reach an ending cutscene, in which Ludger throws away everything just for Julius. If you chose not to use Chromatus 50 times or more between the end of Chapter 13 and now, you will also receive Chromatus Control, as this is still an ending.
Beyond Judgment Intentions are passed down and continue into the future. Live with no regrets.
This is the True Ending. After defeating Bisley in Canaan, when given dialogue choices by Origin, choose "Please save Elle," followed by "I guess I better wish for the fractured dimensions to disappear," and then pick "I can save her! I'll give up my life instead," and finally, choose "I'm more afraid of something else." This will lead to the True Ending and this trophy.
The Fatalist Will the same destiny befall you once again? That depends on your own choices.
This is the Normal Ending. Upon defeating Bisley in Canaan, you have a few final dialogue choices given to you by Origin. To reach the Normal Ending, choose "Eliminate all of the fractured dimensions," then choose "It can't be helped." This will lead to the Normal Ending, and this trophy.
Ludger Transformation Spree Ludger's transformed enough times to earn his own TV show. It plays all day every day on every channel. That's a lotta Ludger!
The target number is 450. Partway through the story, Ludger will gain access to his Chromatus Form, allowing him to deal higher damage to enemies and pull off great damage, combos, and even Mystic Artes unique to his Chromatus. A single transformation counts as one point added to this tally, the level of Chromatus does NOT change the number. A level 1 transformation is the same as a level 3 transformation. Use it as much as you can, but try not to use it too much after chapter 13. Why? Look above at Chromatist.
Snap Pivot Urban Legend Jude has executed a great number of Snap Pivots. People are starting to think he's not even real!
The target number is 450. As you might remember, while playing as Jude, do a back-step just as an enemy attacks, and Jude will circle around behind them to quickly get some attacks in. You MUST be controlling Jude, or any of the following characters, or the actions won't count!
MAXwell Milla has performed a great number of Spirit Shifts. Almost makes you question if she fights with anything else.
The target number is 450. Some of Milla's artes can be shifted into different artes if you simply tap Circle instead of holding the button, making artes, such as Flare Bomb, happen instead. Since you can easily spam these, use resilient enemies or something similar to take care of these. Try to have something to lower TP costs or be linked with Elize for a bit of Teepo Draining.
Super Charged Now Alvin has Charged so much he can't stop! It's like he's frozen in a perpetual state of Charging!
The target number is 450. As Alvin, holding Circle while using your arte will make him charge. Hitting Circle again will make a new arte happen, such as turning Demon Fang into Fierce Demon Fang. Do NOT try to use skills for multiple stacks, they won't make the charge count go any faster. You just have to grind this out the hard way.
Teepo Embodied Elize has Teepo Switched to great proportions! You'd think it was her day job or something! Work it, sister!
The target number is 450. As Elize, taunting (clicking the left analog stick, or pressing L3) will switch Teepo from off to on, or vice versa, which can affect her artes and attacks. Simply hold the taunt button. Try it on weak or slow enemies so you won't get hit as often or as mercilessly.
Fortissimo The crescendo of Rowen's Arte Tuning has finished its apex. The crows cheers endlessly for an encore!
The target number is 450. As Rowen, certain artes will change their effects when you keep hitting Circle or move the left analog stick. The easiest way to do this is to spam Rock Trine and keep hitting Circle so a large stone appears in the middle of the rocks, indicating you got it to work. Then repeat this 449 times. It's a doozy, but aren't all of these?
Staff of Indignation Leia has really extended her use of the Elongating Staff! You'd think that is was made of taffy or something!
The target number is 450. This works in the same way as Snap Pivot: Have Leia back-step just before being attacked. A chime will sound and her staff will elongate and glow white, to indicate you were successful.
Gaius Fury Gaius has used the Retribution ability quite a number of times. A moment of silence for the fallen.
The target number is 450. As Gaius, do a front-step as soon as you successfully block an attack. Gaius will flash a bit to indicate when yo do it. He'll do a kick and a slash, with a slightly cinematic camera change to show you were successful.
Warp Goddess Muzet's Emergency Warp has now been perfected. It's the stuff of legends. Now you see her, now you don't!
The target number is 450. As Muzet, you have to do a back-step as she's in the animation for taking damage. So, set her to Manual so Auto-Guard doesn't kick in. As soon as she takes damage, input the normal back-step prompt you'd do normally, and she'll warp away. This may take a little bit of practice to get down. Just remember, perform the back-step as soon as she takes damage. Once you get the hang of it, you can do it easily.
Doppelganger Ludger has now used his Mirror ability countless times. No one even remembers if there was an original in the first place!
The target number is 450. Ludger's Mirror ability is very useful. He'll mimic the support skill of whomever he's linked with. So, for example, if he's linked with Milla, he'll use Bind in the exact same way she normally would. Or if he's linked with Jude, he'll use Restore if you fall on the ground, and so on. Personally, I went for this immediately after getting Jude's Restore trophy, since it would work in the same fashion, but if you want this even more easily, play as Muzet and link with Ludger, so he'll mimic her Support Warp, which can be grinded very easily.
Life Giver Restoring is the name of the game. Who needs healing when you have Jude?
The target number is 450. While linked with Jude, he'll help you get right back off the ground if you get knocked over, restoring your health in the process. This will be a grindy one, but you can always set yourself to Manual (so you don't auto-guard attacks) and have Minimum Damage equipped, and fight some mares in the Nia Khera Hallowmont, as they're prone to knocking you over. I did this for this trophy, then immediately worked on Doppelganger by doing the exact same thing. Worked well for both cases.
Binding Queen Stand in front of her and you'll be bound. Stand behind her and you'll be bound. There's really no escape.
The target number is 450. While linked with Milla, she'll sometimes Bind an enemy so you can attack them freely. Her odds of Binding are better if the foe is stunned, so using Jude's Palm Strike is ideal for this. Compared to Xillia, it feels like Milla Binds a lot more in Xillia 2, but maybe I just got lucky. She's more likely to Bind Speed-type enemies, like the mare enemies, so keep an eye out.
Expert Breaker "Breaker": It means one who breaks things. All kinds of things. Including your face. Don't even think about it!
The target number is 450. While linked with Alvin, if the enemy starts to block your attacks, he'll either shoot his gun if he's far away, or he'll slash at them with his sword if he's close, leaving them wide open to be attacked. A good way to grind this is to do something similar to Spirit Protector, but stay linked with Alvin so he doesn't kill an enemy by accident. Fight one of the golem enemies in the Xailen Woods or in the Nala Lava Tubes. Simply hit them a few times, let Alvin break their guard, retreat, and repeat. It sounds like a grind, and it is, but it's not impossible.
Soul Siphon Teepo's drained quite a number of enemies. You can hear the cries of many echoing in the distance.
The target number is 450. While linked with Elize, when your TP starts to get low, you'll hear her or Teepo speak, then she'll say "Sharing is caring!" or Teepo will say "Alright, here you go!" This was one drain. Getting to 450 is a pain, but she's pretty good with using it. I suggest you have her link with Rowen, who mainly uses artes, and she'll be using it fairly regularly. All in all, it's pretty grindy, but you can do it!
Spirit Protector If you can guard this well, then forget spirit artes! That's what your foes will say, anyways.
The target number is 450. While linked with Rowen, if an enemy uses artes from a distance, he'll automatically use Magic Guard on you, which also allows you to move while he uses it. There IS a cheap way to grind this, though. Equip the Minimum Damage skill on Ludger and go to Alest Highroad to face one of the Alest Plants, the big tree-like enemy that looks like a plant. It casts artes a lot. While the arte is about to be cast, constantly link to Rowen, then someone else, then Rowen again, and so on. This will make Auto Magic Guard activate constantly, allowing you to easily grind it out. Just make sure your party members are set to do nothing, or put them on Manual so they don't accidentally kill the weak foe.
Notorious Bandit Clearly there's nothing Leia won't steal. Hide your kids, hide your wives, and hide your husbands!
The target number is 450. First of all, just want to point out, this is probably single-handedly one of my top 3 favorite flavor texts on any trophy, because of this silly meme reference. But anyways, as you might recall from Xillia, when you're linked with Leia and you knock an enemy down on the ground, she'll try to steal an item from them. If you're consistent with this, it won't take too long to grind out. Just link with her and use combos while holding the analog stick down, like with Ludger's dual blades, and you should have this in no time.
Power Savior Gaius' defense is like an impenetrable fortress! It's like he's invincible even in his sleep!
The target number is 450. Gaius' support skill has him rushing to defend you if you're taking quite a bit of damage. There's no super-easy way to grind this, so try to get this asap on enemies who can stun-lock you easily, like some of the enemies in the Mon Highlands. Eventually you'll get this trophy.
Limousine Muzet has transported quite a bit with her Support Warp. Enemies don't even want to bother with you.
The target number is 450. While linked with Muzet, back-stepping will warp you further than normal, and front-stepping will warp you in front of the enemy. This is useful for quickly closing in on an enemy or escaping from an enemy while you're in peril. But to grind this, just back-step constantly, but make sure you have the "Mirage Step" skill equipped, so you don't use up AC while doing so. You'll have this easy one in no time.
The Strongest You've attained the highest possible level you can! What are you going to accomplish next?
This requires you to reach level 200 with any character, so don't fret about getting everyone there. Most likely, Ludger will reach it first since you're always going to be in control of him through the game. Work on this in New Game Plus when you can get up to a 10x experience multiplier, because the Illusionary Darkness will be extremely helpful to you here, besides also helping with other things.
Battle General Only those who have received several "Beginner" titles are worthy. The first step to complete mastery.
The target number is 40. You'll most likely have a handful of Beginner battle titles as you play the game naturally. Don't try to go for the titles until you're finishing everything or if you're positive you can manage to do them. Some can be tricky. Once you finish 40 of the Beginner challenges, this is yours.
Battle Lord A true master who has obtained most of the "Advanced" titles. People like you are one in a million!
The target number is 18. The Advanced titles are harder to obtain but you might have some by playing naturally. As with the previous one, don't attempt these until you're prepared to spend a lot of time working on it. After reaching 18 of the titles, this is yours.
Battle God You've obtained all of the "Beginner" and "Advanced" titles. You're shining so bright, I think I need shades!
I won't even lie, this is going to be tough, as some of the later titles require you to be quick on your feet with chaining artes WHILE SWITCHING BETWEEN YOUR LINKS, and some even making you end in a Mystic Arte or Linked Mystic Arte. If you want to follow the guide I used, then click the following link. Bear in mind, though, that you might need to do some serious searching to find ways to do these. Or simply follow any of the videos on here. Best of luck, this one is a serious doozy.
Rikki-chan's Title Guide
Gambler Like gambling so much you'd even gamble with your life? Then you, sir or madam, are a true gambler.
The target number is 100,000. You must win, cumulatively, 100,000 poker chips, no small feat. But as they are cumulative, once you earn, say.. 20,000, you won't ever lose that number, even if your current chips fall below it. It's all about making any kind of pair of cards, starting with 2 pairs, then trying your luck with a game of High or Low. The trick for High or Low is to limit yourself. If you're doing well and get scared you might lose (and lose all currently bet chips in the process) then cash out and immediately play again. You'll keep the bet chips. This took me about.. maybe an hour to do, from 0 chips, and I didn't use a single Gold or Silver die to make it easier on me. Hands down the easiest and most fun gambling-based trophy I've ever done so far.
And that's all for the trophies. Quite a few of these are going to take you some time, so be ready to invest some serious time and effort into this platinum, but I believe in you, you can make it happen! I hope you get closer to that platinum and I hope you succeed getting it! Thanks for reading and I'll see you again soon!
*This game took me a total of 1 week and 3 days to complete, from my first trophy to the platinum. My first trophy was "Notorious Bandit" which was achieved on July 12th, 2017 at 6:52 PM. My final trophy was "Master of Chains" which was achieved on July 22nd, 2017 at 10:01 PM, along with the platinum, "Lord of Xillia 2." This platinum trophy is the 62nd platinum trophy I have received.*
