Katamari Forever Trophy Guide

Welcome to the trophy guide for Katamari Forever! This is a fairly simple trophy list, but some of them are actually pretty challenging with how much they demand of you, but only a select few of them. With that said, it's still a fun game either way, so let's get rolling!

Platinum Katamari Collected all trophies.
As usual, roll up all these trophies so you can make yourself a Platinum Katamari. It's going to take a while, but I believe in you!

Congratulations! Completed all Requests in Katamari Forever mode.
Impossible to miss if you're at least trying to play to completion. This unlocks after finishing every level in the normal mode. This will unlock after completing "The King's Dream" for the first time, since that unlocks after everything else is complete. Make sure you don't forget the "Just Size" missions, since those are optional!

Katamari Speedster Completed all Requests in Katamari Drive mode.
After finishing the game, you unlock more modes. Katamari Drive acts like the level where your Katamari moves on its own, very quickly, except you have more control and don't constantly move on your own. The time limit is shorter than normal to compensate for your increased speed, so you have to be quick and be ready. Quick turns are your best friend in this mode! After finishing every request on Drive mode, you get this trophy.

Katamari Fanatic Completed all Requests in Classic Katamari mode.
Classic Katamari mode plays exactly the same as Katamari Forever, except there is no Prince Hop, and there are no King/Robo-King Hearts for you to collect. It's all about your speed and rolling skills here, but otherwise it's definitely not challenging. As with before, complete every request on this mode to get this trophy.

Completist Completed 100% of the Collection.
This WILL be your final trophy, and this is the most aggravating part. Now, you would assume you could simply look up everything or find a guide, right? Perfectly reasonable assumption, except you won't find it. You'll find bits and pieces online with enough searching, and the game doesn't help much either, only giving you the size, which, even then, is really vague. By the time you finish the game and all 4 game modes, you'll have roughly 90% of the Collection, if not more. Some things are easy enough to find, but you have one huge obstacle... The CowBear.

In one of the King's levels, he tasks you with the familiar goal of rolling up ANYTHING that is cow or bear related, even if said item has cow print, like a carton of milk or a traffic cone with cow spots on it. Technically, your target is the CowBear, which, as you'd expect, is both animals combined, which would fulfill the cow and bear requirements. The problem is the level and the size you have to be. If I remember right, you have to be roughly 8m before you can get it, and it gets very tricky to avoid all of the cow and bear stuff once you get to be that big, as well as trying to remember the CowBear's route that it cycles through. Even if you watch a video and follow it to a T, it's still challenging. But if you've invested this much time into the trophies, you might as well finish it up, right? I know that's what I did, and I almost cried when I finally got the CowBear, especially considering I was about to run out of time, too!

We Love Cousins Rolled up all Cousins.
Through the levels, you'll sometimes see a tiny character that looks identical to the Prince. These are the Cousins, which you can play as if you don't want to play as the Prince, or just, essentially, want a different skin altogether, since that's virtually their purpose. After getting them all, this is yours. When you highlight levels, you can see if there's a Cousin or not, as well as seeing if you rolled him/her up or not.

Present Collector Collected all Presents.
Similar to We Love Cousins, except it's Presents this time, which give you little attachments to your character, like bubblegum, a scarf, and more. As with the Cousins, you can track your progress while highlighting levels, and your best bet is to use Eternal mode to take your time and find the Presents. They're hard to miss, though, as a big gift box isn't too hard to miss.

Eternal Roller Completed all Requests in Eternal mode.
Eternal Mode is just like Katamari Forever mode, except there is no time limit. You can roll up whatever you want, then simply hit Square to end it. This is a fantastic way to obtain many items you couldn't get in some levels due to completion criteria or restrictions based on the mission you were doing. And believe me, you're going to be using this mode a LOT!

Enormous Katamari You made a katamari over 2,000,000km!
For an easier time, I suggest waiting for Eternal mode, as you're not timed. In one of the final King levels, "Wake up the King," you're tasked with rolling up the King of All Cosmos, which requires you to roll up the entire world and enter space. In space, all of the stars you've created will be there, allowing you to not only add to your huge size, but collect more things for the Collection. In Eternal Mode, you can end the level whenever, so you can take your time and not be under a time pressure. but if you'd rather try to knock it out on the Katamari Forever version on your first go, then by all means, go for it. When you finish a level with a Katamari that's at least 2 million km, you're good to go.

We Love Stardust Turned 50 katamaris into dust.
After completing a level, you can play it again if you want, whether to get a better score, a bigger Katamari, or just for the sake of it. Upon finishing the stage successfully, you'll be offered to overwrite your existing star, or destroy the Katamari you just made. Destroying it turns it to Stardust. Do this 50 times and this is yours.

Creator Created 200 katamaris.
This is the opposite of the previous trophy. When you overwrite a star, after finishing a stage, it counts as a newly-created Katamari. Simply keep overwriting your stars and completing levels in each mode and you'll have this trophy before long with very minimal grinding, if any.

Endurer Obtained 50,000 points in the punishment mini-game.
Failing to create the target Katamari size within your time limit, or failing the other criteria based on the mission, will lead to you being punished. Before choosing to start the level over or quitting to the level select menu, you can attempt the punishment game where you have to constantly dodge falling rocks that break into smaller rocks, with only 3 hits until it ends. If you can survive long enough to reach 50,000 points, this trophy is yours. Don't worry if you don't, you have to get punished 50 times for a trophy down below anyway. A good spot to fail is in the Campfire level, or the level where you can only grab hot items, as they let you fail them very easily if you're not being careful.

Hi-Scorer Obtained 50,000 points in the ending mini-game.
In the ending mini-game, you bounce in the sky, collecting items to make your Katamari grow while the credits roll on the other half of the screen. Getting 50,000 points isn't too ridiculous of a goal, and if you fail you can just play again in the mini-game option, within the Collectibles screen.

Huge Katamari Created a katamari over 10,000km.

Big Katamari Created a katamari over 500m.

Stardust Turned a katamari into stardust.
See We Love Stardust.

First Katamari Completed a Request.
Impossible to miss, as you'll receive this after your first Request after the Prologue/Tutorial level.

Collector Completed 80% of the Collection.
See Completist.

Cousin Friendly Rolled up 30 Cousins.
See We Love Cousins.

Fashion Conscious Collected 30 Presents.
See Present Collector.

Movie Fan Watched 5 movies in a row in Movies.
After you finish the story and have all movies unlocked, simply watch 5 of them in a row in the Movies section. Easy!

Single Player Played through 50 single player Requests in a row.
Just keep playing single player levels until you obtain this trophy. It's not as difficult as it might sound.

Multiplayer Played through VS Battle or Co-op 30 times.
Similar to the trophy above, just plug in a second controller and do a quick level 30 times, and boom, another trophy!

Hopper Performed the Prince Hop exactly 7 times before completing a Request.
Hitting R2 (I think L2 is also a viable choice, but I always use R2) will make the Prince do a hop. This is great for gaining height and seeing the level around you, and offers a quick scan of the area, on top of letting you reach new heights. Simply do this 7 times, then finish a Request without going over 7.

Fast Roller Performed the Dash exactly 6 times before completing a Request.
Moving the analog sticks in opposite directions quickly will make the Prince rev his Katamari and do a dash (so, left stick up while the right stick is down, then push them on the other direction, you probably know it by now anyway). Do this 6 times and complete a Request, and then you're set.

Quick Turn Expert Performed the Quick Turn exactly 6 times before completing a Request.
By hitting R3 and L3 (clicking the analog sticks by pushing them in) together, the Prince will do a quick 180 degree turn, allowing you to quickly and efficiently change direction for whatever reason you have to. As with the others, just do this 6 times, and finish the Request, and then you're golden.

Katamari Destroyer Destroyed the katamari 50 times before completing a Request.
This is a tad misleading, as you never really destroy the Katamari. To "destroy" means that you run into something and you notice a piece fly off your Katamari. I don't really know what determines whether a piece comes off or not, but just keep trying until you do it 50 times. Since there is no "exactly," you can just do it as much as you see fit, then end the stage.

Rolling Expert Rolled up 7,650 objects before completing Request.
Pretty simple when you're working on Eternal mode, so you should probably just do that. The "Wake the King" level is a great level to try this trophy on. Also, why is 7,650 so important? It's a recurring number in Namco games, usually signifying the highest possible point value you can get for something. It's a fun little thing since Bandai-Namco worked on this game.

Mini-Gamer Played through all mini-games.
With the exception of the punishment mini-game, you can play all of these games in the mini-game section available in the Collectibles category while you're in the menu.

Music Lover Listened to 5 songs in Music.
Pretty self-explanatory and easy, honestly.

Photographer Viewed a photo in the Photo Album.
You have to take a picture first, which is done with Prince View (if I remember right), so take any picture and go view it to get this easy trophy.

Rankings Lover Viewed the Network Rankings 5 times.
Just enter the Network Rankings, then leave. Then repeat the process 4 more times. Instant trophy!

Unforgiving Punished over 50 times.
See Endurer.

And that's it for the trophy guide! I hope you succeed in your trophy endeavors as this was a pretty tricky platinum to obtain. Either way, I wish you luck and I have faith that you can roll up everything and complete this game and grab its platinum!

*This game took me a total of 4 years and 3 months to complete, with an enormous hiatus before I went back to grab the final trophy. My first trophy was "First Katamari" which was achieved on June 26th, 2012 at 8:47 PM. My final trophy was "Completist" which was achieved on October 9th, 2016 at 7:37 PM, along with the platinum, "Platinum Katamari." This platinum trophy is the 47th platinum trophy I have received.*

  1. Currently working on the platinum for this as well! Just finished up the Completionist one (really glad I repeatedly played the cowbear level until I got it before moving on, biggest pain for me was the red haired band guy in the hot and cold level -.-'). Just have the multiplayer and unforgiving one to go! :) Congratulations on your platinum!
