Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon: Surf's Up!

So, we got a new short trailer for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon today but I'm so hyped about it that I'm just going to let that be today's blog post! Sorry if you were ready for more Miitopia stuff, but don't worry, it'll still be coming. Firstly, let me just link the video here.

So, let me just briefly go through the video in each chunk. It's probably going to look a bit sloppy, so I'm sorry in advance, but here we go!

So, the first thing we get shown is that the Island Challenge is back, much to the dismay of every fan who had theories on the gyms in those big, empty spaces on each island. Sorry guys, Island Trial is still Alola's thing, but I loved it, I can't wait to go through it again. It first shows the hero entering Ilima's trial, but then cuts to what looks like Lush Jungle, with a bunch of Sudowoodo in it. Next, we see a scene where Togedemaru is with a group of Charjabug, before it cuts to a scene with a robotic Vikavolt breaking free of some wires. Next, it shows Acerola by a door, looking distressed as a dialogue box reads, "Get out. Get out! Get OUT! GET OUT! GET OUT! GET OUT!!!" I wonder if that's the Mimikyu from her trial in Sun and Moon. Only time will tell from here, though. Next, it shows the Totem Lurantis appearing behind the male hero before it cuts to a new trial, from the last captain, Mina. If you remember from Sun and Moon, she didn't really have a trial, and you simply went into Vast Poni Canyon, defeated the Jangmo-o family, and claimed the Z-Crystal. But it only shows that we can battle her, and she has 3 Pokémon. Is this her trial? Or do we face the Captains at some point in the trials this time? Again, only time will tell.

Next, it cuts to a couple short scenes with Lillie and Hau. However, Lillie's concept art is her "Z-Powered" look from after some plot-heavy points within the Aether Foundation prior to going to Poni Island. Does this mean that maybe she'll get Pokémon and battle? Too much to speculate, but it's still exciting all the same. Her scene mentions wanting to be strong like the hero, strong enough to face any trial, and Hau's scene has him speaking to the player, stating, "I know you want to win... And I'm gonna make sure that happens!"

Next, we're told that more than 400 Pokémon will be appearing, meaning that we have, at least, 100 more Pokémon for our Alola Dex, unless they decide to give us the National Dex this time. They quickly go through the following Pokémon in the wild: Tropius, Larvesta, Mareep, Larvitar, and Zorua. It then states that Houndoom will be exclusive to Ultra Sun, and Manectric is exclusive to Ultra Moon.

Next, we get a little showcase of the Alola Photo Club, a building you can enter in some town/city that lets you take pictures with your Pokémon, pose them, and all sorts of silly things. It's kind of like a ramped-up version of the Poké Finder from Sun and Moon. It's cute though, because some people would really enjoy doing stuff like that, so more power to 'em, I say.

And finally, probably the coolest part, we can now use Mantine as a Pokémon in the Poké Ride section, and we use it to actually surf between islands! And, to make it even more fun, it shows you can fly up into the air and do tricks, for points! Doing tricks and stuff aside, this is something I wish we could have done in Sun and Moon, just casually surf between the islands, even though using Charizard Glide was still probably the better option. All the same, this looks amazing and I can't wait to, well, get my Surf on.

Hard to believe this game comes out in 2 months, but man I sure can't wait to get my hands on it on my birthday, is possible! This game looks so awesome!
