Fire Emblem Fates Randomizer

So, it's been a long time coming, due to how Fates has changed the seals from Awakening (mostly) and therefore everything is sort of shifted. Add to the fact that stat caps are a lot lower than in Awakening and it becomes a little bit tougher to really max out to broken proportions. On the other hand, the class options offer a much wider selection of classes, instead of the 2 additional classes (Such as Chrom being able to shift from a Lord to an Archer or Cavalier), and with other seals giving some nice, varied options. As I did with Awakening, I'm going to go into the details of each little spot, basically the same areas of Awakening, but with explanations of the different seals, marriage, and so on. It's basically the same idea as Awakening, but with some differences. Also, just to note, due to the nature of the games, this is obviously kind of impossible on Conquest without DLC, so for the sake of it, this will be about Birthright and Revelations, but especially Revelations since you obtain every character in the game from both routes! Anyways, enough exposition so early, let's get right into it!

- The Seals -
So, we have some new seals in this game, instead of simply Master Seals and Second Seals. I'm going to list them below and tell you how they all function. Let's go!

Master Seal - Promotes a unit to a new class starting from level 10. Resets their level to 1 after they promote. Remember that "resets to level 1" part, it's important.

Heart Seal - Allows a unit to change to a new class based on their personality. Your Avatar will be allowed to use this to access the secondary class you choose when you create him/her. This does not reset your level, so using it at level 12 will keep you at level 12 in this new class.

Partner Seal - Allows a unit to change classes based on the base class of his/her marriage partner. Is not applicable to all characters, and will keep you at the same level you used it at.

Friendship Seal - Allows a unit to change classes based on the base class of their best friend, which is when a unit reaches an A+ support with another character, which is only possible if the units cannot have an S-Support together. It's important to note that it only works one-way, so, for example: If Corrin gets an A+ support with Kaze, Kaze can still get an A+ Support with, say, Ryoma. This is very important to note, as you don't have to have both characters locked into an A+ Support with each other if you don't want it. Levels stay the same, as usual.

Eternal Seal - Adds 5 to the maximum level cap for a character, allowing them to level a little more for some extra stat boosts and such.

Offspring Seal - Only usable by children characters. If you do a child's paralogue and your story progress is far enough where they would be stuck at level 20 at their base class, they'll have this rare seal, which will instantly promote them to their next class at an appropriate level based on your progress in the story. If you get the children early enough, you'll probably never see this seal.

So, what's the overall theme here? Besides the Master, Eternal, and Offspring Seals (The latter two are very objective, and chances are you might never see an Offspring Seal), everything does not change you back to level 1, like the seals in Awakening. This hinders the overall theme of "I will become stupid-powerful now, enough to destroy Garon early in the Birthright path." However, despite that, there's always a way. Let's move on to the other points.

- Promotion Basics -
So, as you already know, starting at level 10, your characters can promote to a new class, whether it's simply reclassing into a different base class, or promoting to a stronger class. After going over the seals, we now know that only the Master Seal will bring you back to level 1 (For the sake of it, I won't mention Offspring Seals, since their existence is determined by your story progress). As such, if you're going to randomize or just play around with the classes, it might help to have your classes set in advance. If not, no worries, just play the way you want to play! If you're reading this after the Awakening post, or simply know your Fire Emblem jargon, let's just move right along.

- Marriage -
So, marriage, obviously, is the only way you can actual utilize a Partner Seal. As you remember, most males and females can S-Support each other, and Corrin can S-Support with anybody of the opposite gender, except for one male (Niles) and one woman (Rhajat), meaning that your Corrin can, in fact, have a gay marriage if you wish, but note that a gay marriage will not allow them to produce a child, so think wisely on that if you want there to be children. Obviously, when you have characters you'd like to marry, make sure they're paired up constantly for the best results. However there's something very important for you Birthright players to remember, involving Kaze, which I'll explain in the next section. Also, for whatever reason, if you have a male Corrin, if he marries a woman who can support other characters, for some reason, you won't get all of the children, you'll need to leave one out, so if you want all of them, he has to marry a woman who can only marry him, or one of the 2nd generation women. Weird, I know, but female Corrin doesn't have this issue. Strange.

- Friendship -
So, while supports aren't new in these games, it plays a bigger role this time, especially with the new Friendship Seals, meaning that for those who can't marry another unit, they can still reach an A+ Support in order to, basically, become best friends, and be able to delve into their base class for more additional fun. As mentioned earlier, if you wind up wanting to try something without feeling like you're forced to use marriage, you can always have what you think is an awesome bromance (or.. gal-mance? I really don't know what you'd call it for two girls). Remember, an A+ Support can be one-sided, so as stated earlier, Corrin can have an A+ Support with Kaze, while Kaze himself can have one with Ryoma. And speaking of Kaze...

If you're playing Birthright, it is important to know that Kaze will sacrifice himself after chapter 15 to save Corrin's life! However, if you can get Corrin and Kaze to have an A Support (or higher, if applicable and up to your choosing), Kaze won't die! So if you're doing Birthright, make sure you don't let Kaze die, or else, among other things, his daughter, Midori, will not be available, as her paralogue will NOT appear until after Chapter 15, provided Kaze is alive! And on that note...

- Children -
So, have a similar concept to Awakening, except their very existence isn't plot related, this time. And this time, a child's paralogue is not limited to story progress. Instead, well, it's limited to the appearance of their father. Yes, this time, the kids are based on their fathers, which is the literal opposite of Awakening, in which the kids were based on their mothers. Sumia would always mother Cynthia, Lissa would always mother Owain, and so on. It was predetermined. In this case, it's the same setup, but switching the parental roles. Kaze will always father Midori, Azama will always father Mitama, and so on.

This, naturally, is where more random fun happens, as the Heart Seals will vary the classes for the children based on their parents, because it takes the personalities of the parents and allocates them to their child. And, of course, the skills are passed down, naturally. Well, the last skills in order on each parent are passed down, but you probably know that by now.

Once the parents reach an S-Support, the child's paralogue will be available on the map. In this game, the child is placed in a world in the Outrealms, much like your castle, and time works differently in the Outrealms, so they age quickly and you're able to quickly enter their paralogue to recruit them and complete their chapter. However, there's one little thing you should be aware of in some of the paralogues, and a few of the normal chapters, but only if you're wanting, well, more characters in general.

- Capture -
A feature that returns in this game is the Capture system, which allows you to capture enemy units and make them join your cause. However, only Orochi and Niles can use the Capture skill, so make sure one of them are on your team if you want to try capturing! You can typically recruit enemy units, save for some special cases, such as playable character on the opposite side, like Leo in Birthright, or Takumi in Conquest, and so on. Some bosses are recruitable, but are stuck within their base promoted class, so.. unless you really want more units, then you don't really need to worry about them. It's all up to you, really.

- Inheritance -
As you're already aware of, the skill in the 5th slot gets passed down to offspring, so obviously you want to make sure you choose your skill order wisely before heading out into the paralogue to claim the child you're trying to get. Want him/her to have Defense +2? Well make sure that you put that skill in the right slot, and so on. Once you have your child and don't go back to fix your skills, you're locked into that choice, so be sure you've made the right choices!

- A Note on Seals -
So before we get into the randomizer setup, just a note about seals. Your stores will only have a limited number of seals, until you can get them to be level 3. This isn't possible until late into the game, like after chapter 20, so you're going to need to do some planning in advance. Then again, maybe you'll get lucky with skirmishes against the Faceless, just like you can with skirmishes against the Risen in Awakening. Just try your best. Either way, farming gold is going to come in handy eventually, as well as your dragon points to add buildings and such to your castle!

- DLC {OPTIONAL} -
A completely optional step, if you don't have the DLC or don't want to use it, that's perfectly fine! But if you have certain items from the DLC, such as the Fell Brand or Vanguard Brand, you can spice things up by adding those to your list of variables for randomizing. Not necessary, but I felt it was worth mentioning, just in case!

- Randomizer Rules -
So, here we are, at the setup that I'm literally coming up with on the fly, because maybe it's better this way, that I try putting it on a post before I actually attempt it. But I think I've come up with something that could work, and it sort of falls in line with Awakening, and to be honest I'm surprised I didn't come up with this sooner, but hey, it happens. Without further ado, let's try this out!

- Obviously, put some variables into a randomizer site, like random.org. Have it select seals for you to use, but you're going to need to make yourself do some Master Seals for the purpose of this. Have this randomizer also pick out marriage partners if you wish, but this is entirely up to you. Just watch out for Corrin's partner if you're using the male version, unless having every offspring isn't an issue, in which case go nuts.

- Pick your route. If you're looking for the easiest path, definitely pick Birthright (Side with Hoshido), as Conquest is the most difficult and Revelation is like.. the middle ground. Whatever you choose, make sure you're sure you want that route. If you want the most variety and character choice, you have to go for Revelation, but ultimately it's up to you.

- Now, without any prior thought, here's what I believe is a decent setup for getting a lot of skills and maybe some good stats. I might be wrong, since I haven't tested this out, but everyone has their own methods, eh? Here we go.

{Starting Class} > {Seal} > {Master Seal} > {Seal} > {Master Seal} > {Seal} > {Master Seal}
Now, I know this looks very long and probably complicated, but let me spell it out piece by piece, so we can figure this out, together. For this entire process, I'm going to use male Corrin as our example, for the sake of it.

- So, Corrin starts out as a Nohr Prince, of course. Since he's the main character, all of the effort goes into him, generally.

- Let's say you made his secondary class a Sky Knight when you created him, and you choose to use a Heart Seal. You should change his class asap so he can start to grab the skills of a Sky Knight. However, if you change his class at level 20, and then immediately promote him to, say... a Kinshi Knight, then Corrin will receive the 2 skills associated with Sky Knight at the earliest possible chance, and then receive the Kinshi Knight skills at the normal levels.

- Next, let's use... a Friendship Seal, and we'll say he has an A+ Support with... Jakob. Now we can use the seal to turn Corrin into a Troubadour, which can then promote into a Butler or a Strategist, whichever you've chosen or whichever sounds better. For this example, we'll choose Strategist.

- Finally, after acquiring the skills from Strategist, you can use Partner Seal to promote to one more set of classes. For this example, let's say we have Corrin marry... Rinkah. He can then use the seal to become an Oni Savage, which will then promote into an Oni Chieftan or a Blacksmith. Let's choose Blacksmith for this example. After maxing out as a Blacksmith, you're finished! Let's create a little diagram of how this will look, using the examples with Corrin.

Nohr Prince >
{Heart Seal} Sky Knight >
{Master Seal} Kinshi Knight >
{Friendship Seal with Jakob} Troubadour >
{Master Seal} Strategist >
{Partner Seal with Rinkah} Oni Savage >
{Master Seal} Blacksmith

Again, I know this is a LOT to take in, especially after how simple the Awakening formula looks in comparison to this, but this is simply what I thought of while typing this whole post up. And remember, this is simply my first thoughts on this format, that doesn't mean you can't tweak it to suit your own playstyle or maybe fix some of the possible glaring errors or mistakes I've made in the formula, whether it's to cut down on time or what have you. If you think of anything else (without the use of an online randomizer like you'd see if you searched YouTube for anything randomized, using a program, not random.org), I'd love to hear what you all think. I'm not expecting this to be a huge success like Awakening, because honestly I think this one is a bit more sloppy, but who knows, maybe I thought of something cool again. Whatever the case, if you try this out, I hope you have a lot of fun and I hope you find some new fun in this game. Thanks so much for reading this huge post and I'll see you all again soon! :D
