Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves

Ah, my favorite Sly game from the original trilogy, before Sly 4 took the "favorite Sly game" title for me. If we're talking about basics, this game will feel a lot like Sly 2, but I still believe it's a nice bit of change from how Sly 2 worked, and it really feel a lot more fun, in my opinion.

For starters, just from looking at the box, you realize that Bentley is now in a wheelchair following the events of Sly 2 after he was crushed by Clock-La's mouth. However, being handicapped doesn't stop Bentley from still making versatile use of his wheelchair, and as such, he's equipped it with all sorts of gadgets and gizmos to keep him one step ahead of the enemies.

Next, let's look at the game's main draw: Bringing together new members to the Cooper Gang to unlock the Cooper Vault. And even though you only get to play as these characters in certain missions (aka, you can't just directly choose to play as them while in the Safe House), they're still a lot of fun to use and see their abilities. For the sake of spoilers, just in case, I won't tell you who's all in it, but they're all amazing (Except for one but that's a story for 2 weeks from now when I talk about Sly 4). Also, if you really like Carmelita, well, you get to play as her in some missions through the game, so that's pretty fun!

Another cool thing, for you completionists out there, are the missions that unlock after you complete the episodes. These are simple, short challenges that delve into some of the game's missions. Usually the constraints are to do the task in an allotted time, or do a mission with only half of your health, and so on. Some can be a little frustrating, but otherwise they're pretty easy. The last missions you unlock involve treasure hunting after you obtain the pirate map in Episode 5, so that's also a lot of fun.

Also, as a quick mention, the game has some missions that can be done in 3D. The PS2 version of the game came with paper 3D glasses you could put together and utilize for certain missions. I don't know what the point was, and if you play the missions without using the glasses, they just drain the color so it's greyscale and you can see slight red and blue markings on stuff, like an outline, I guess? I don't know how it works, but it's a cool little thing if you wanted to do that.

And finally, there are a few silly multiplayer games if you want to play with a friend. There are only a few: Cops and Robbers, Dogfighting, and a Pirate Battle, but they're still a fun little distraction if you and a friend want to play a few silly games.

But that's all for Sly 3. See ya tomorrow for the trophy guide!

Have a nice day!~
