Forgotten Worlds

Oh boy, a game I still have yet to beat to this day, but that's good because it's one of those classic hard games on the Genesis. Ironically, I never knew Capcom was involved with the game until I got the picture you see above the text. No wonder it's so hard and sounds so good.

But yeah, it's a shoot 'em up in a sense, with the ability to purchase upgrades with Zenny that you collect from fallen monsters. It's a very difficult game, in my opinion, though. I don't remember what level it was, maybe level 6, out of.. 9 or 10, I believe, and it was a snow level, and I never got further than that. It's a lot of fun, though, and I love coming back to it every so often when I plug in the Genesis again.

I think I just need to practice more, or just keep trying. It's definitely one of my favorites, though, because I love the challenge it brings, and I just love how you have to be quick on your toes, and be quick with orbiting around and firing at enemies, as well as making your orbiting robot fire at the right angle. It's still fun, even if it is really hard.

Tomorrow's blog post will be up really late as my sister is coming by tomorrow, very early in the morning, so sadly tomorrow's post won't be up until late. However, I'll type it up later on and post it immediately when I get time tomorrow. Until then, be safe with all the crazy weather happening!

Have a nice day!~

The Lion King (Genesis)

So, I have played two versions of The Lion King. I've played the Gameboy version, and the Genesis version. I have never owned the Super Nintendo version, but from what I've seen, it looks exactly like the Genesis version, but with slight differences in music and graphics quality. I could be wrong, though. But for today's post, it's on the Genesis version I love so dearly.

So, as with Aladdin, the game follows the plot of the movie, of course. You start the game as a young Simba, and after the Hakuna Matata level, you play the rest of the game as adult Simba. Thankfully, as you'd expect, adult Simba can actually attack and whack things with his paws, making him more of a threat. And in the level you start playing as adult Simba, it's almost a practice stage for how to utilize him. I'm not saying the stage is easy, because it's not, but you still get time to grasp the concept before the game throws you into hard last levels.

I always remember the hardest part of the game as a kid, personally, was the second level, which is based on the song "Can't Wait to be King." In it, you hop on animals' heads, like giraffes, and you swing on hippos' tails. In at least 3-4 parts, you come across a monkey puzzle, in which your ultimate goal is to roar at certain monkeys to make then switch positions and they throw you towards the ostrich at the end of each monkey segment. These were always challenging back then because you had to remember what monkeys you roared at, and only the pink ones can be roared at, as the blue ones were set to whatever they're naturally facing. Finally, in those ostrich segments, you have to duck and jump over obstacles, and even double jump sometimes! It was really challenging back then, like most older games.

But all that aside, the Genesis does a nice job at translating the music to 16-bit, personally. Sure, you could argue that the SNES would sound much better, and you might be right about it. Personally, I think it comes down to preference. I would still probably think the Genesis sounds better due to nostalgia and the fact that the Genesis was more prevalent in my life than the SNES, as I still own my Genesis, and my SNES, well.. I think a controller broke and we, for some reason, got rid of it? And then my grandmother got rid of the games, I think, so.. yeah.. sad times.

But as always, thanks so much for reading, as always! Tomorrow I'm going to talk about a Genesis game I still haven't beaten, but it's the kind of hard game you really want to pick up and try again! See you tomorrow for Forgotten Worlds!

Have a nice day!~

I'd Like Opinions for This Poll

Okay so, just a quick poll today, then back to more good posts tomorrow. For this week's poll, I just want to ask and see how many people would get a Nintendo Switch, because I'm really curious. So leave your votes in the poll, it ends in a week, and I will see you tomorrow! :D

Have a nice day!~

A Little Late But...

200 posts... My goodness, I can't believe I've gone over 200 posts with this blog. I'm still baffled how I'm still doing this. Sadly, I don't continue things too well, but to see me continuing my projects and this blog really makes me proud of myself. I'm sorry for the lack of a real blog post today, but all will be back on schedule tomorrow. And this is an early blog post, isn't it? Well, my dad wanted to take me out to a diner today, which is totally unexpected, but it's a very nice surprise nonetheless. After I come back, I have a bit of drawing I have to do. I'll also put up a new poll tomorrow, I just have to think of what I want it to be. In the meantime, congrats to Claptrap for being the winner of the last Border-Poll (Ya know, until Borderlands 3) and there's a reason for those polls too, but you'll have to wait and see!

And then after the drawing, probably back to Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, so I can continue slugging my way through it to reach the platinum. See, it's Proud Mode that's going to be the worst of it. Yes, grinding for Card Master Sora will also be a pain, but at least I can do that on Beginner Mode and not have to worry about dying in a few well-placed hits, you know? Ah well, slow progress is still progress all the same. Until then, see you around and thanks again, ever so much, for the continued support you all bring to myself and this blog. You all really inspire me to keep pushing forward with this project, and I can't thank you all enough for it!

Have a nice day!~

Aladdin (Genesis)

This is one of those old examples of how a Genesis game is different from the Super Nintendo version. But even with this version, I still had a ton of fun with it. I love how fluid the animation on the sprites are, and I love the music very much. One of the funnier things I enjoy doing is throwing apples at the chubby guards, and sometimes their pants fall down. Silly cartoon humor, but I still love it a lot.

As I'm sure everyone reading this page has seen the movie, there's no need for me to really tell the plot of the game, as we all know it by now. But the game is pretty short, at least if you know how to play each level. One of my favorite levels has to be inside Genie's lamp, it just looks really cool and silly, and of course there's a Genesis in the background, just for a little easter egg. I dislike the carpet escape, however, as it eventually gets so fast it could make Sonic jealous of its speed, seriously.

But all in all, this is a fun game and I love coming back to it every so often when I pop my Genesis back in. As usual, thank you for reading and I will see you again soon!

Have a nice day!~

World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck

Man, if you try to say the whole name of this game, it's a serious mouthful. So, if I say the name again, it will obviously just be "World of Illusion." But names aside, this is another Genesis game that I've owned forever, generally, and as a lot of Disney games go - or at least, the ones that I've played, personally - it's still a lot of fun. Before we begin, though, let me tell you the story of this game (This is taken from the actual opening of the game after you pick your character and all of that fun stuff, so they will be in italics and quotes!):

"One night, Mickey and Donald were practicing for their big magic act.
One of the magic tricks surprised Donald, and he fell backward, tipping over some scenery.
Behind the scenery was a mysterious magic box with a drawn curtain.
'Oh, Boy! If it works, we can use this in our magic act!' said Donald.
'Uh, I don't know if that's such a good idea...' replied Mickey, noticing a strange glow behind the curtain.
But he was too late. Donald had already stepped inside.
Poof! The curtain fluttered and Donald disappeared!
Mickey stepped inside to inspect the box and...Poof!, he disappeared too.
Booming laughter echoed as Mickey and Donald fell through the darkness, and an evil voice said,
'You are good magicians in your world, but here in my world of magic, you'll have to learn many more tricks to find your way home.
'If you can find and defeat me, I will show you a way out of this magic box.'"

Phew! So there's the literal opening of the game, right there. Part of what I enjoy about this game is that it's not just the same game if you pick Mickey or Donald. There are certain levels that only Donald goes to, and vice versa with Mickey. For example, while both characters can crawl, Donald's behind is too big to get under certain spaces Mickey can get through in his levels. And another cool thing is that this game is also co-op. Yep, you can have Mickey and Donald travelling together in this crazy world, and, for example, Mickey can pull Donald through those tight spaces, or one of them can drop a rope to help the other reach a space that only one of them could make it to. It's honestly really cool, and just the subtle differences between picking Mickey and Donald makes you want to play the game again as the other character to see what levels there could be.

And of course, the music sounds very pleasing, the worlds/levels look beautiful and all of the colors just blend together to look really nice. As I say with, generally, every game, definitely give this one a look at if you'd like to try older games, especially if you have a soft spot for all-things Disney. As always, thanks for reading and I'll see you soon! I also thought of other Genesis games to talk about after making that schedule, such as Batman and Last Battle, so look forward to even more as the week goes on!

Have a nice day!~

It's That Time Again! (Advertisement)

So I understand if you guys don't generally like that I advertise others. However, I like to help my friends out, even if it means giving them a quick push early on. So, let me get right to the chase for today's advertisement.

Do you like seeing art? Maybe you enjoy drawing or seeing the art from other people. Maybe you're on deviantArt, FurAffinity, InkBunny, etc. and enjoy posting your art for others to see, and are always wanting to see more art. Maybe you'd like to see art tutorials or reviews on art supplies? If you like art in any shape or form, and are always looking for new people to see as they improve, consider checking out the new blog made by one of my best friends! She only just started yesterday, but I know she'll improve in no time, and her art is already really cute, in my opinion.

If you'd like to see her blog as she slowly develops it and adds more to it, check out "Arts And Stuff!"
